The Regina Alpine Race Team/Regina Nancy Greene Ski and Snowboard has been part of the sports network in Regina since the 1970's. It has provided hundreds of youth with the opportunity to participate in the sport of downhill skiing and snowboarding both at a novice introductory level and as competitive racers.
The club is a family-oriented club providing training targeted at alpine skiers and snowboarders with all levels of experience for children and youth from ages 5 to 18. Adult lessons are also offered. Our main hill for operations is Mission Ridge located at Fort Qu'Appelle which is approximately a 45 minute drive northeast of Regina, Saskatchewan. The two clubs - the Regina Alpine Race Team (RART)/Regina Nancy Greene Ski and Snowboard (RNGSS) - are affiliated with the Regina Ski Club. There is a relationship through the Regina Ski Club through Alpine Saskatchewan to Alpine Canada.
The two clubs operate with separate executives, but in a coordinated and consolidated way to ensure all skill levels are properly accommodated. They are non-profit organizations operated through a volunteer Board of Directors with an Executive elected from within its members. The club believes in a strong involvement and participation by its family members to ensure that a high calibre educational and development program is available to participating youth.
Experienced instructors and coaches certified by the Canadian Ski Coaches’ Federation (CSCF), Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance (CSIA), and Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) provide programming and skills development for the novice and racers. The coaches are committed to the development of the total athlete.
All costs associated with the promotion, development and delivery of the RART/RNGSS programs during the training season falls upon the families who have children or youth participating. To help reduce the fees and cost with the sport, each family has an opportunity to engage in various fundraising activities based upon the program involvement of the skiers.
