This page is a gathering of commonly asked questions - and their answers - that new and current members are curious about. They have been arranged into the following sections that you can navigate to directly by clicking on the section name link
Q: Do we need to complete the registration forms before we come out and, if so, I presume they are on the web site?
A: No, you don't need to print the forms from the web site and complete them before coming to registration. We'll take your information during registration and use it to generate and print all the forms with as much info prefilled for you as possible to reduce the time for people to complete their forms. However, if you would rather complete the registration pages yourself, you can print the web site forms out, complete all the information, and then bring them with you when you register with the club.
Q: Is there a price discount for those of us with season passes at Mission Ridge?
A: Yes, there will be discounts on registration fees for people that have purchased lift passes for both Mission Ridge and Asessippi. These discounts will correspond to the budgeted cost component of lift tickets that are included with the program fees - which differ between the various programs. For example, this lift ticket cost component has typically been in the range of $80 for a Nancy Greene member for Mission Ridge.
Q: I see that there are programs offered by the club at Fort Qu'Appelle (Qu'Appelle Valley Ski Club) that appear to cost much less than the Regina club's programs. Is there a difference in the programs?
A: Although the two clubs use the same Canadian Snowstars program for instruction, they operate independently in their pricing structures. The largest difference between the program costs is that QVSC assumes everyone will pay for their own lift tickets, where the Regina club builds that lift ticket cost into the program. Our Regina club does this because we expect that most of our members will not have Mission Ridge passes purchased ahead of time, and it is a convenience feature that will reduce the time needed in the morning for our members to wait in line and purchase the lift ticket at the ski hill's office before every week's training.
Q: How do the kids get broken into groups for coaching? Is it by age or ability?
A: Initially the students are divided by age and estimated skill but once we assess their abilities on the hill, the kids are separated by skill level into appropriate groups. As they progress these groups may change as kids progress at different rates.
Q: Do you need parents help at the hill or do we wait for the kids in the Chalet, or pick them up at the end of the day.
A: Our club's policy is that all Nancy Greene parents must be present at the hill but need not be on the slopes (although parent helpers are always appreciated). Even with warm clothes, on cold days we often take a break part way through the morning and afternoon sessions so younger members will appreciate a parent in the chalet at those times. Lessons start promptly at 10 (on the hill) and end around noon for lunch, followed by a 1 - 3 o'clock afternoon session.
Q: What forms of Fund Raising are there? As a club we try to run a number of fund raisers over the year. We've done Hot dog Sales, Bottle Drives, Steak Nights, etc. The funds raised are applied to the registered Family Account (minus a Club security fee - 10%). These funds can then be applied to any club activity, bus trip, event, or fees. We've done Bingos in the past and but currently we are not doing these any more.
Q. Can I suggest other types of Fund Raising? Yes, the club is open to any form of fund raising, as long as there is enough participation from the membership to make it profitable for those that run the event.
Q. Is there any current Fund Raiser? The current on-going fund raiser is a Dollars for Skiing Gift Coupon Program. This is open to any club member. With this program you purchase gift cards at face value and a percentage (2-15%) is put into your family account. We have over 60 merchants, from Grocies to Gas, to Restaurants and Sport Shops.
