 Fundraising Overview Minimize

This page provides general fundraising activity information. Specific fundraising event and program information can be referenced from the pages on the left navigation bar that cover each event or program in more detail.

Fundraising Purpose

The Regina Nancy Greene Ski and Snowboard and the Regina Alpine Race Team club members can offset the club charges (such as their membership, trip, and/or event fees) to their family accounts through various fundraising programs. All programs are optional. However, if fundraising is attractive for a member, the variety available allows each member to choose one or more event/program that best meets their individual needs.

Fundraising Restrictions

All fundraising through the club can be done to offset the accumulated costs charged to the club members' family account. However, no fundraising should be used to generate an income. In other words, once the fundraising has generated enough monies to offset all charges that have been assigned to a family account, any further fundraising revenues will not be realized for that operational year.

If a family account has had direct payments applied to it (that is, account payments were received), the fundraising income could still apply to the original charges that were applied to the account until those charges had been offset. If this creates a negative balance (because of payments received in the past), the amount now in credit on the family account will be paid out by cheque at season end.

For example, if a family account has $300 charged to it for membership fees, and the member pays that $300 by cheque (making their account balance zero), and then they raise $200 in fundraising to that account, this would then create a $200 credit in their account. The $200 would then be paid back to the member at year end by club cheque. But, they can only apply a maximum of $300 fundraising to their account (thereby completely offsetting the original member fee of $300) - any more fundraising generated after that would not go to the family account for that season.

Standard Fundraising Events/Programs

Dollars For Skiing (DFS) - The DFS program provides gift cards to members to be used at designated merchants. By using these cards, the member then receives a percentage of the cards value back into their family account to offset club charges.

Regina Auto Body - RAB offers our club a great funding program.  For any auto body work that they perform, the Club receives some funds.  For every $1,000.00 worth of work, RAB will donate 25.00 toward the Club.  These funds have been used in the past to purchase drills, gates, and various other pieces of equipment.  Please consider using RAB if you are in the unfortunate situation of requiring some auto body work.

Wax Days - Through the General Motors Pontiac Canadian sponsorship, a day is designated for offering ski waxing and tuning to the general public. Monies charged for these services are collected and distributed to those involved based on their time commitment to the event.

Entertainment books - Some years, we have sold Entertainment Books.  This is a very good fund raiser, returning $15.00 per book that you sell.  For 2011/2012, we are running this fund raiser.  You can give Colleen Wheeler a call to get the books, or drop us an email at Info@reginaalpine.ca.  If you want you can go on-line at entertainment.com/support and order books under our account.  The RART account is 971916.  They should be delivered to you directly.

Other Fundraising Examples

Over the years, various fundraising events have been organized by individuals. Some examples are:

  • Bottle Drives
  • Baseball Tournament Confectionery Stand
  • Hot Dog Sales in front of Businesses (e.g. Canadian Tire, Sobey's, etc).

Fundraising Sanctioning, Approval, and Support

If one or more members want to organize a fundraising event or program, they may do so any time they wish. However the club cannot endorse it and have its name used in the event or program unless it is sanctioned by the club executive.

To have a fundraising event or program sanctioned by the club executive, it needs to be presented with information about the event. The approval is based on reasonable expectations that the event will produce a profit, and that the club's name and reputation will not be negatively affected.

After it has been approved, the club will take 10% of the profit from the event and put it into a general fundraising contingency account. This contingency account is used for the approved events that - through unforeseen circumstances - operates with a negative income. In these cases the fund would help those event's organizers to not have to bear a financial burden.
